As I indicated last week in my President report CWA, IBEW, Qwest & CenturyLink reached an agreement about the proposed merger on October 18th.    Earlier this week there was a Presidents conference call to go over the specifics of the agreement, the agreement is attached.

The agreement contains employment security provisions for call center employees and commitments specific to union density.

CWA & IBEW were unable to get an agreement on the expansion of neutrality to the CenturyLink footprint, but do have language about good faith conversations on a going forward basis.  There is also an expedited process if either party is providing information that is not factual about the other.

The agreement calls for us to withdraw our interventions where we have formally intervened.  We do not have to publicly support the merger.

CWA will continue working on our organizing strategy headed by Curt Hess and in partnership with IBEW will fight the retrogressive bargaining proposals that CenturyLink is consistently presenting.

In the agreement between CWA, IBEW, Qwest & Centurylink there is a reference to addendums a, b & c.  These addendums are covered under a confidentiality agreement and are not allowed to be put out.  The agreement does cover ALL Qwest call centers.
