Unit 1 Report (All Areas)
For Area 1 (AT&T Mobility) I would like to announce that our Local Union was able to accomplish with AT&T Management through the grievance process to have the AT&T Management recognize the Arizona Earned Paid Sick Time statute retroactive to January 12, 2018. Our Local Union will continue through the grievance procedure to seek a resolution to have the company recognize the Arizona Earned Paid Sick Time retroactive to July 1st, 2017. If you have any questions in relations to Arizona Earned Paid Sick Time, please contact your local steward, local officer or the Union Hall for further questions.
Additionally for Area 1, I am reporting that investigations surrounding DirecTV Now are still ongoing and determinations from these investigations have resulted in an array of discipline, spanning from Written-Warnings to Terminations. I would like to take this time to remind everybody that if you are in a formal investigation you should always have your union representation present. Again please contact your local steward, officer or Union Hall for further questions regarding these investigations.
Lastly for Area 1 we will be receiving physical copies of the current Labor Agreement to distribute to you soon.
For Area 2 (Cricket Wireless), I am reporting that we have yet to reach a resolution regarding Arizona Earned Paid Sick Time through the grievance process. Our Local Union is expecting a similar response from Cricket Wireless Management as we got from AT&T Management, we will keep you posted with any details as soon as we receive notice. If you have any questions in relations to Arizona Earned Paid Sick Time, please contact your local steward, officer or the Union Hall for further questions.
Additionally for Area 2, we have formally filed a grievance for the new schedule tool that went into effect last month. We are grieving based on an arbitration decision made in the year 2011 which states that seniority means schedule selections are based on the order of seniority for DAYS OFF and PREFERRED SHIFTS. We will keep you posted with any progress with this case.
Lastly for Area 2 we will be receiving physical copies of the current Labor Agreement to distribute to you soon.
For Area 3 (DirecTV) I would first start to report that currently at this time the Arizona Earned Paid Sick Time statute does NOT apply to any bargained employees working at the DirecTV Call Center. This being said, I am going to transition to my next subject which is bargaining our next Labor Agreement. Our current Labor Agreement is set to expire July 20th, 2019. We will make sure to have our voices heard that we expect the Arizona Earned Paid Sick Time to apply to bargained employees at our call center with our new Labor Agreement.
Furthermore, I am reporting that an increase in attendance discipline has happened in the past few months at the Call Center but we have yet to have any report on any terminations for attendance year to date at the Call Center. If you have any questions on the Attendance Policy please contact your local steward, local officer or the Union Hall.
I want to take a moment to thank everyone in Unit 1 for your membership and your time for reading this report. There are many opportunities for your involvement, action and support at our Local Union. I would also like to mention that you don’t have to be a Steward to get involved, we have plenty of committees (finance, political, election, etc.). Please ask your local steward, local officer or call the Union Hall to ask how you can be more active in YOUR Union.
